Motor Vehicle Sales in Turkey Totaled 179,379 Units Decreased by 25 Percent Year on Year

In the first four months this year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 179,379 units, decreasing by 25 percent year on year, according to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Meanwhile, in April of the current year motor vehicle sales in the country saw a decline of 26 percent compared to the same month of 2013, totaling 56,741 units.

In the January-April period this year, passenger car sales in Turkey amounted to 132,116 units, decreasing by 23 percent year on year. In April, passenger car sales decreased by 25 percent year on year to 42,769 units.

On the other hand, in January-April this year Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 285,922 units, up four percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 192,146 units, up 27 percent, both year on year. The country exported 85,235 small trucks in the period in question, down 23 percent year on year. Revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports in the first four months amounted to $7.78 billion, rising by 12 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $2.54 billion, rising by 12 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, in the first four months this year, Turkey's passenger car imports totaled 99,308 units, while total motor vehicle imports amounted to 120,825 units, both decreasing by 26 percent year on year.
