Hanjin Chemical, a specialty paint manufacturer, has begun operations of its Hanoi, Vietnam plant for specialty coating materials used for mobile devices.
"We established the plant to supply paint materials to Samsung Electronics Vietnam and other consumers in Southeast Asia," said Choi Jeong-gu, executive of Hanjin Chemical.
With a total floor area of 3,300 square meters in a 12,000-square-meter site, the plant is capable of producing 2.2 tons of coatings a day. The coatings are used mainly on the surface of mobile devices such as mobile phones and smartphones to prevent scratches.
Established in 1963, Hanjin Chemical is headquartered in Euiwang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, and produces "functional" coating materials such as plastic coatings, UV cured coatings, high grade coatings for musical instruments and wood products, and marine and protective coatings.
