Unity Opto Reported November Consolidated Revenues of NT$736mn, Down 10% on Month

LED maker Unity Opto reported November consolidated revenues of NT$736 million (US$25 million), down 10% on month. Meanwhile, Lextar reported November revenues of NT$780 million, representing an on-month decrease of 8.75%. Lextar added that the penetration of direct-lit LED TV is likely to reach 40-50% in 2013.

Despite the falling revenues, Unity Opto noted that orders have been strong since the third quarter and China-based TV brands have been benefiting from the China government's program for providing subsidies for energy-saving products. The firm added that revenues in the fourth quarter are likely to show strong on-year growth. Unity Opto's consolidated revenues for the first 11 months of 2012 were NT$6.99 billion, surpassing 2011 total consolidated revenues of NT$5.8 billion. Market observers believe Unity Opto's 2012 total revenues will show more than 30% of on-year growth.

Unity Opto pointed out that due to the promotion of large-size TVs by Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry), low pricing has effectively stimulated demand. Overall demand for LEDs will continue to increase, said Unity Opto.

Lextar also reported falling November revenues. The firm noted that the fourth quarter is usually a low season for the LED industry, in addition, new models have been developed. The firm hopes to increase its China market share in 2013. As for LED lighting products, Lextar noted that LED component shipments have been increasing continuously.
