China Has Extracted Combustible Ice

China has extracted samples of high purity combustible ice, a kind of natural gas hydrate, for the first time in the east Pearl River Basi, the Ministry of Land and Resources announced, Xinhua reported. As methane makes up 99% of the sample, the newly discovered reserve will be equivalent to gas resources of 100b-150b cubic meters. Such  large reserves are rare in the world. Once put into commercial use, the combustible ice will be a key factor in changing China's energy structure.
