Russian Gazprom Initiated an International Tender on UO Steel Pipes

It is reported that Russian Gazprom, the largest extractor of natural gas and one of the largest companies in the world initiated an international tender on UO steel pipes with increased quantity from 700,000 tons ~ 1,500,000 tons for South Stream Gas Pipeline project. This project is seen as rival to the planned Nabucco pipeline. It is expected that Japan Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal and JFE Steel will participate in this tender. The South Stream pipeline project was firstly announced on June 23rd, 2007 by Italian energy company Eni Paolo Scaroni and Russian Gazprom.
