European Crude Stainless Steel Output Decreasing Substantially by 20% From a Quarter Ago

The Germany-based service center Damstahl reported that the European crude stainless steel output totaled 1.6 million tons in the third quarter of this year, decreasing substantially by 20% from a quarter ago while rising by 2% year on year.

In the first three quarters of this year, the European crude stainless steel production amounted to 5.7 million tons.

The report also indicated that the European stainless steel market was not improved and the demand from end-users and distributors did not recover obviously.

Damstahl forecasted that the European stainless steel demand would remain weak in December but it expected that the European stainless steel market would recover in 2013, driven by higher demand from gas and oil sectors.
