Turkey Will Defend Itself at a Hearing at The US Trade Department This Month

It is learned that Turkey will defend itself at a hearing at the US Trade Department this month that is part of the antidumping investigation imposed by the US against steel pipe imports from 9 countries.

According to head of Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturer’s Association in Istanbul, Mr. Mehmet Zeren, They have to defend themselves otherwise they will lose half of their market share in the US.

Currently, Turkey’s has 4% of steel pipe market share in U.S market last year, around 3.25 million tons.

Zeren said they are hoping that Turkey will be excluded from the investigation against 9 countries because they are not subsidized and have no dumping.

On the other hand, South Korea and Vietnam have 25% and 8% share of the market, he said.

Turkish producers including Borusan Mannesmann Boru Sanayi & Ticaret AS (BRSAN), Erbosan Erciyas Boru Sanayii & Ticaret AS (ERBOS) and Ozbal Celik Boru Sanayi Ticaret & Taahhut AS (OZBAL) will likely produce 4.45 million tons of steel pipes this year, up from 4.25 million tons valued at about $5 billion in 2012, he said.
