Taiwan's Job Prospect for The First Quarter of 2013 Stands

Taipei, Dec. 12, 2012 (CENS)--According to a workforce survey recently released by Manpower Group of the United States, Taiwan’s job prospect for the first quarter of 2013 stands at a robust +35% on its Net Employment Outlook, the highest as compared with any economy in the world.

The prospect is 14% for mainland China, 12% for the United States, and 11% for both Singapore and Japan.

The group pointed out that the Taiwan’s job prospect for the first quarter of 2013 represents the overall hiring intentions by the island’s employers improve by 1 and 3 percentage points from the fourth quarter and first quarter of 2012, respectively.

The group pointed out that Taiwan’s employers report positive hiring intentions in all six industry sectors, and for the third consecutive quarter employers in the services sector report the most dynamic hiring pace.

According to the Manpower survey, 31% of the 1,010 Taiwanese employers interviewed anticipate increasing their workforces, while 5% predict a decrease and 60% indicate they will leave their current workforces intact. The widespread optimism among Taiwan’s employers indicates that the Taiwan’s labor market will be the most active regionally and globally in the quarter ahead.

Employers in the services sector report the strongest Q1, 2013 hiring
willingness with an outlook of +40%, and nearly four out of 10 sector employers surveyed say they plan to increase their workforce during the first three months of 2013. The Q1, 2013 outlook in the services sector declines by 4 percentage points quarter-over-quarter, while climbing 3 percentage points year-over-year.

Terence Liu, Country Manager of Manpower Group Taiwan, pointed out that across all of Taiwan’s industry sectors, the mood among employers is encouraging. With the increase of airlines and terminals, there is a growing demand for aviation-related talents, especially technicians. Established airlines such as TransAsia Airways, China Airlines, and EVA Airways have constantly reported job vacancies over the past few months, presenting a total manpower demand for 2,000 people.

He added that in anticipation of a thriving tourism boom resulting from the festival season, rapid expansion of franchises can also be found in the food and beverage sector, contributing to job vacancies of several thousands more.

Opportunities for Taiwanese job seekers are also expected to be bright in the transportation & utilities (+36%) industry sector. The Outlook increases 5 percentage points quarter-on-quarter and 7 percentage points year-on-year.

Meanwhile, an active hiring pace is expected in the wholesale & retail trade
(+31%) and mining & construction (+30%) sectors, while job seekers can look forward to strong demand in the manufacturing (+29%), and finance, insurance & real estate (+28%) sectors. Nevertheless, employers in three of the six industry sectors expect the hiring pace to be softer quarter-on-quarter despite an overall healthy forecast.
