The appointment of Mark Newton-Jones follows the news of former CEO Simon Calver's departure from the firm last month.

Baby and parent specialist Mothercare Plc has appointed former Group CEO of Shop Direct Mark Newton-Jones as its interim CEO.

The appointment follows the news of former CEO Simon Calver's departure from the firm last month.

From March 17th, Newton-Jones will step into the role, reporting to Mothercare's Chairman, as the board continues its search for a permanent CEO.

"We look forward to welcoming Mark to Mothercare on March 17th."

Newton-Jones added: "I am very much looking forward to working alongside Alan, the board and the executive team of Mothercare, and to help in the transformation of the UK business while we continue to grow the successful international division."
