German automobile manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus has selected the tire maker Continental for supplying third generation tires for its trucks and buses.

Following the move, new vehicles of the manufacturer will be equipped with the new Conti tire generation including the Conti EcoPlus HS3 for steering axles and the Conti EcoPlus HD3 for driving axles.

According to the tire company, the Conti EcoPlus tire series features adjusted rubber compounds, new tread design, and reduced rolling resistance, and offers fuel savings of about 1.9L per 100km.

The steering axle tires are claimed to offer better wet grip behavior and feature a Visual Alignment Indicator (VAI).

All the third generation Continental tires are said to be based on a retreadable premium carcass with reinforced steel cord beads, and feature the AirKeep inner liner, which minimizes creeping air loss.

For the bus segment, Continental will supply its tires including the Conti Coach HA3 to MAN with both its brands MAN and NEOPLAN.

The coach tires are said to offer better fuel-efficiency, mileage and wet braking behavior with their steering precision.
