Colombia's Production of Long Steel Had Dropped 10% in The First Half of This Year

It is learned that Colombia's production of long steel products had dropped 10% in the first half of this year, compare to the same period last year, while the imports of it increased be 23% in the period. According to Colombia's Steel Manufacturers' Committee (ANDI), such increase of long steel products have caused damage to local steelmakers. Ana María Fergusson, the director of ANDI, said the market share of domestic steelmakers in this December will drop to 59% from 64% in the beginning of this year, if the strong imports continue. In 2010, domestic market share was around 78%.
