Ashok Leyland Has Received Order for More Than 4000 Buses From STUs

Indian vehicle manufacturer  from Ashok Leyland has received order for more than 4000 buses from State Transport Undertakings (STUs), which is expected to be worth Rs 1.5bn ($247m).

Around 22 Transport Undertakings from the country have placed the order including Bangalore Metropolitan Transport (BMTC) and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport (APSRTC).

The company will offer a mix of JanBus Midi buses which has a uniform floor of 650 mm and it features wide doors and a single-step entry.

Ashok Leyland is expected to offer midi-buses and Ultra Low Entry (ULE) buses as a part of the deal, and it has already commenced the supply of some buses that are operating across the country.

Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod K. Dasari said: "With rapid urbanization and increasing agglomeration in Indian cities."
