Kush Bottles, North America's premier supplier of certified, child-resistant packaging and Colorado-compliant Philips Rx Pop Top bottles for the marijuana industry, announced today that they will offer free guidance to dispensary owners to help them through the maze of regulations regarding proper labeling and packaging of marijuana and edibles, as they transition from medical to recreational sales.
Boulder medical marijuana businesses planning to convert to recreational cannabis sales will have until May 31 to do so, or be required to apply as if they were a new marijuana business under ordinance changes proposed by the City Attorney's Office.
The Boulder City Council decided last November to allow existing medical marijuana businesses to convert to recreational sales or operate in "co-location," under which they can sell both recreational and medical marijuana, even if their location would not be allowed for a new marijuana business. The proposed ordinance also changes and clarifies some rules regarding signage and product packaging.
However, the deadline is looming for the dispensaries to convert, and many dispensary operators are reportedly mired down in what appear to be conflicting regulations and requirements.
As previously reported in the Denver Post, the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) is increasing manpower, and almost doubling the size of their staff in order to clamp down on dispensaries that aren't up to code.
"If you have been getting away with stuff because the state was underfunded, you may find yourself not only out of business, but in jail," said Jeff Gard, a Boulder lawyer who represents marijuana businesses, as reported by the Post.
