The Embassy of Honduras in Spain organized a high-level forum to promote the textile and other industries of the Central American country in Spain, in view of the European Union-Central American Association Agreement (EU-CAAA), the trade pillar of which has been provisionally applied by the EU since August 1, 2013 with Honduras.   The aim of the event titled "Central America today: A business opportunity after the Association Agreement with the European Union," was to inform the Catalan institutions about the new trade related possibilities post EU-CAAA.   Honduras differed from other Central American countries, as it hosts the largest textile industry in the region, Honduran Ambassador to Spain Don Norman Garcia Paz said at the forum, which was attended by entrepreneurs from the city of Barcelona.   Mr. Erick Rovina, Assistant Director General for Trade Policy with Latin America and North America, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Government of Spain, spoke about the benefits of EU-CAAA from a regional perspective, citing examples of some companies that are already doing business in Central America.   As in the past, the event was supported by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain and the ICEX, an institution that promotes the internalization of Spanish companies.   Similar events were carried out by the Honduran Embassy in other Spanish cities like Madrid, Pamplona and Valladolid, among others.
