Li Rongmin said, over the past 30 more years, the cross-straits trade and economic cooperation has made impressive achievements on the basis of complementary and reciprocal developmental conditions. In recent years in particular, the cooperative areas have been widened with increasingly rising levels of cooperation, and advanced manufacturing, modern service industry and exquisite agriculture have become the developmental orientation of the cooperation; it has become the common pursuit of entrepreneurs cross the straits to jointly have research and development, co-build standard, co-create brand, co-expand and share the international market and make the world’s money together.

Either in the mainland or in Taiwan, the bio-tech has been listed as one of the top emerging industries in hi-tech areas in 1980s and has been promoted actively. The Taiwan bio-tech practitioners are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises but they are innovative with high level of new medicine research and also their high-end medical care, medical beauty and health care products also enjoy good reputation; the Mainland’s rapid economic growth and widespread markets have provided many sound conditions for cooperation and development. Against the background of economic globalization and regional integration and facing fierce international competition, the bio-tech enterprises should seize the opportunity to jointly build world famous enterprises and create new ways for mutually-beneficial cross-straits cooperation. Director Li Rongmin proposed three expectations. Firstly, the relevant departments cross the straits could establish and perfect the coordinate mechanism and improve ways of communication and create good environment; secondly, enterprises cross the straits will strengthen communication and cooperation in research, development, production, marketing, funding, technical standard certification and joint-stock so as to raise their international competitiveness.; thirdly, efforts will be made to strengthen civil communication, attract more enterprises and encourage eligible Taiwan SMEs to do business in the Mainland and let more people cross the straits benefit from the cooperation and development.
