In order to further strengthen the close cooperation between China and the EU in urbanization and industrial sustainable development and promote the effective implementation of the Joint Declaration of China-EU Urbanization Partnership, the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the China Center for Urban Development (hereinafter referred to as the CCUD) and the China Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have jointly initiated the China-EU Urbanization and Industrial Sustainable Development Joint Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Joint Committee).
The launch ceremony of the Joint Committee and the Seminar on International Cooperation of China-EU New Industrial Zones, co-hosted by the Investment Promotion Bureau, the CCUD and the UNIDO China Office and co-organized by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (DENA), the China Commercial Real Estate Commission and the EU-China Industrial and Commercial Investment Promotion Union, was successfully held on December 18, 2014. More than 150 representatives from local governments, chambers of commerce, associations and enterprises attended the meeting. Inspector of the Department of Foreign Investment Administration of MOFCOM Liu Zuozhang, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau Wang Xu, Deputy Director of the CCUD Qiu Aijun and Representative of UNIDO to China Adegboyega Ajani attended and addressed the meeting. Many guests such as DENA Director General Stephan Kohler and UNIDO Senior Consultant Liang Dan delivered keynote speeches.
Wang said in the address that the Investment Promotion Bureau would actively mobilize bilateral investment promotion channels, superior resources and work networks between China and the EU to assist and serve in exchanges and cooperation in domestic and international industrial parks and promote further development of China-EU urbanization cooperation.
The seminar focused on three core sections, that is, “New China-Germany Ecological Zone and Demonstration Base of Investment and Cooperation”, “Foreign Investment Service Base” and “European Hidden Champion Industrial Park”. At the same time, some important cooperation platforms and international cooperation projects such as the Chinese International Investment Promotion Center (Germany), International Cooperation of New China-EU Industrial Zones, the EMC Project of Hungarian National Public Lighting of Air China-Tongtai, the Incubation Center of China-Germany Economic and Technological Cooperation and the Riverside Six Flags County” were promoted. Besides, members of the EU-China Industrial and Commercial Investment Promotion Union, such as Tong Tai International Holdings, Long Do International and Beijing Shiji Dingyuan Investment signed cooperation agreements with such strategic partners as SWECO, LGM CAMONDO, Progetto, V+A, Gessi, Gullo, OIKOS, and Smania.
