A Conveyor System Moves Materials From One Location to Another

A Conveyor system is a common piece of mechanical handling equipment that moves materials from one location to another. Conveyors are especially useful in applications involving the transportation of heavy or bulky materials. Conveyor systems allow quick and efficient transportation for a wide variety of materials, which make them very popular in the material handling and packaging industries. Many kinds of conveying systems are available, and are used according to the various needs of different industries. Roller conveyors are series of rollers supported in a frame over which objects are advanced manually, by gravity or by power. These roller conveyors are available in two versions i. E. Powered and un-powered (idler). Idler roller conveyors can be straight or gravity type. Heavy and/or voluminous material can be conveyed very easily with these roller conveyors. These roller conveyors are generally used in assembly lines. In few applications these conveyors can be converted in free flow versions and used in inspection lines in food industries. One more form of the roller conveyor is vegetable/fruit-grading conveyor required in food industries prior to the conversion process of the raw material. Gravity roller conveyors are widely used in unit load handling systems because of their simplicity, low unit cost and ease of maintenance. Gravity roller conveyors can be applied in the form of level push-lines or graded lines using the force of gravity. Gravity Conveyor comes in various configurations. Roller gravity conveyors are suitable for heavier loads. Roller and shaft sizing is based on the intended application for the gravity conveyor. The Lineshaft Driven Live Roller Conveyor is a unique concept in powered roller conveyor. These roller conveyors accumulate products with minimum backpressure. Typical characteristics of this roller conveyor include quiet operation and easy maintenance. These conveyors are suitable for light applications up to 20kgs such as cardboard boxes and tote boxes. A single shaft runs below the rollers running the length of the conveyor. On the shaft there are a series of spools; One spool for each roller. A rubber o-ring runs from a spool on the powered shaft to each roller. When the shaft is powered the rubber o-ring acts as a chain between the spool and the roller making the roller rotate. The rotating of the rollers pushes the product along the conveyor. The shaft is usually driven by an electrical motor, which is generally controlled by an electronic PLC. A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) electronically controls how specific sections of the conveyor system interact with the products being conveyed. Advantages of this conveyor are quiet operation, as well as easy installation and maintenance. They can be manufactured for almost all applications, at relatively low expense. Source: hicow.com
