Women holding a bright light within their hands was a symbol of power that women found within themselves and the arrival into a once male dominated world.

Many of Art Deco's qualities came from its predecessor Art Nouveau, combining traditional craft motifs with Machine Age imagery and materials. The Art Deco style is often characterized by bold geometric shapes, lavish ornamentation, and rich colors. In its day Art Deco represented glamour, luxury, exuberant architectural inventions, and a faith in technological and social progress.
