Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology provides an energy-efficient illumination solution for commercial and residential use. LED lights last up to 10 times longer than compact fluorescents or regular incandescents. In addition, LED bulbs do not emit ultraviolet radiation and are highly durable. These money-saving bulbs are making progress in the marketplace, and there are several varieties to choose from.

  • Diffused High Power Bulbs

    • An LED bulb designed for standard household use is the diffused high power bulb. It produces the same amount of light as a 100-watt incandescent bulb. Typically, the diffused high power bulb lasts about 50,000 hours and uses 13 watts of energy.

    Diffused Bulbs

    • An LED bulb used for areas where the light will stay on for an extended time is the diffused bulb, which spreads the light over an extended area. Diffused bulbs provide area lighting for porches, room, reading lamps and hallways. A diffused bulb uses up to 7 watts of energy, lights a room for at least 50,000 hours and provides the same amount of light as a 20- to 60-watt incandescent bulb.

    Spotlight and Floodlight LEDs

    • You can use a 4.5-watt floodlight indoors or outdoors. It operates with a spread-out dispersed light. The 7-watt LED light appears brighter because it does not have a dispersing lens. Both styles can replace the 40- to 50-watt incandescent light bulb.

    Candelabra LEDs

    • Replace a 20-watt incandescent bulb with a 2.1-watt LED candelabra bulb. The bulb is not dimmable, creates a cool white light and produces a beam angle of 120 degrees.
