Megger Is Launching a Nationwide Series of Free-to-Attend Seminars

To dispel the confusion and concern caused by recent changes to requirements for portable appliance testing (PAT testing), portable test equipment expert Megger is launching a nationwide series of free-to-attend seminars.

Called “PAT Testing Code of Practice 4th Edition – National Roadshow”, Megger is planning 35 seminars, which will be held throughout the UK, but further seminars will be added to the programme in areas where demand is high.

Equally suitable for those who provide PAT testing services and those who use or have a need for these services, the seminars will look in detail at the changes introduced by the new fourth edition of the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, which came into effect in 2012.

For providers of PAT testing services, the seminars will dispel the fear that the changes will necessarily lead to reduced income, and will explain how the potential reduction in demand for routine re-testing can be offset by offering a wider range of services and support. The procedure of determining re-test interval on the basis of a risk assessment, which is given much greater emphasis in the new code of practice, will also be dealt with in detail.

For those who use PAT testing services, or believe that they should be using these services, the seminars will discuss why and when PAT testing is needed and will, in particular, consider who is the “duty holder” mentioned in the code of practice, what the responsibilities of the duty holder are, and the potential consequences of neglecting these responsibilities.

Megger’s seminars will also provide excellent opportunities for PAT testing service providers to meet potential customers, and for those who need PAT testing services to meet potential suppliers.

The seminars will last about an hour and, in addition to the formal presentations, there will be ample opportunities for all of those attending to ask questions and discuss their own specific requirements.

While the seminars are free to attend, booking is essential. Demand is expected to be heavy and places are limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to visit the Megger website to check the seminar schedule and make a booking as soon as possible. Alternatively, bookings can be made by calling Megger on 01304 502 236.
