It Is Where You Can Relax Surrounded by The Style You Love

Choose an Outdoor Furnishing Style

Why limit your sense of style to just the inside your home? Bring it outdoors to create a more enjoyable space where you can relax surrounded by the style you love.

If you haven't given much attention to finding out your own sense of style, do so now. It makes buying decisions that much easier, and there is a greater sense of satisfaction as you get to live in a space that expresses your own personal preferences.

Outdoor furniture is available in different materials and styles. Pillows, rugs and other accessories are also available in a multitude of colors, patterns and range from classic and formal to eclectic and contemporary.

A classic look is formal, and never really goes out of style. It can have many interpretations, and be used in a variety of settings.

The look that you choose could be French Provencal, Tuscan, or even be inspired by ancient Greco-Roman settings. It could also be modern. But everything should have an uncluttered, classic look.

These are the elements a formal, classic outdoor space will have:

  • The furniture should have clean, straight or gently curving lines.
  • The arrangement should create a look that is balanced and symmetrical.
  • Bold geometric forms can be used in furniture frames or fabric and accessories.
  • The surroundings should be clean and uncluttered too. Accessories such as topiaries in square planters work well in a classic setting, as do other plants with architectural forms.

If you like a rustic look indoors, the patio or backyard is the perfect place to expand upon it. A country look is very close to nature, and uses materials, patterns and textures that derive from it.

To create the romance and warmth of a country garden:

  • The furniture should reflect welcoming warmth. Wicker is a good material for this, as is rustic wood. But metal can be used too.
  • Rocking chairs, swings, as well as big cushy seats.
  • Color through cushions, pillows, throws and tablecloths. These also help introduce comfort because this is an important factor too.
  • Fences, lattices or garden gates can provide focal points.
  • Lots of color and texture through a profusion of planters overflowing with flowers and herbs.

Asian inspired outdoor spaces can be peaceful, serene and calming. A zen garden is one way to indulge your love for furnishing in an Asian style.

You may have noticed that a zen space tends to be minimalist. It needs very little, but needs to be organized with great care. It can be used as a private retreat to get away from everything.

To furnish a zen outdoor space try this:

  • Benches for meditation or contemplation. These can be made from different materials, such as wood, metal or concrete, but simple in design.
  • Accessories such as rocks, Buddha statues, lanterns, or chimes can be added. But again with an eye towards simplicity
  • Bamboo fences, gates or fountains or even a small pond can serve as focal points
  • Use pebbles and rocks to suggest streams
  • Use just a few well chosen plants.
