Japanese carmaker Honda has started production at the newly-built Yorii vehicle assembly plant in Saitama, Japan.
Located within the carmaker's Saitama Factory, the vehicle assembly plant is equipped with a new production line, which incorporates a painting technology that shortens the process of painting.
The new 950,000m2 plant, which would have an annual production capacity of 250,000 units, will produce Honda's vehicles including Freed minivan and the new Fit that will go on sale in Japan during September 2013.
The start of production at the new plant brings all the three facilities at Honda's Saitama Factory into operation including Ogawa engine Plant and Sayama Plant that manufactures a blend of small sized models.
In May 2013, Honda's Chinese joint venture, Guangqi Honda Automobile (GHAC) started the construction of a new $581m production line in Guangzhou, China, which is scheduled to commence operations in 2015.
