Makies Have Become The World's First 3D Printed Toys to Feature The CE Mark

Makies have become the world's first 3D printed toys to feature the CE mark.

Makies Become World's First Ce-Certified 3d Printed Toys

This means the dolls, which can be designed and customised by users online before being transformed into a real product, are now CE-certified EN71-compliant 3D printed toys.

They have met EU toy safety regulations and are approved for use by children aged three and up.

A selection of pre-made dolls are also available in the Makies Shop, as well as 3D printed accessories and handmade clothes.

"We're delighted to be creating and selling the first ever CE-certified 3D printed toy, a real milestone in the technology and manufacture of toys, we think," MakieLab CEO Alice Taylor told ToyNews.

"We've plenty more designs up our sleeves, and we're enjoying working directly with our consumers on what sort of toys they want to see in the world.

"We're also rolling out our matching digital toys - apps and a game - this year, completing that digital to physical loop that's so fascinating to us all."

Makies Doll Factory will launch for the iPad and iPhone.

MakieLab was formed in 2011. Its second toy-game product, targeted at the boys market (ages eight-plus), is currently in development with partners.

A MakieLab investor previously said "the toy trade is ripe for disruption", and Taylor told ToyNews that 3D printed toys and retail can co-exist.
