Government of India Is Planning to Allocate 17 Food Parks to Various Companies

The government of India is planning to allocate 17 food parks to various companies towards the end of this month, which is expected to attract total investments of more than INR2,100 crore.

India's food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said: "We have received proposals for allocations of food parks, we are in the process of evaluating those proposals and I think very soon we would be able to allocate these food parks."

The government has already received 72 proposals from various companies including Adani Group, ITC and Future Group for 17 food parks, with the government hoping to establish at least one mega food park in every state.

Each of these food parks is expected to attract a minimum investment of about INR125 crore.

This scheme is aimed to establish a strong food processing industry with the support of an efficient supply chain.

The Food Processing Ministry of India had sanctioned 42 projects throughout the country, of which 25 parks have already been allocated.
