Honda Performance Development (HPD) has partnered with the Italian auto components maker Magneti Marelli to develop components of the powertrain to be used in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Under the partnership, both the companies will use their extensive research and development resources to help HPD's effort in developing IZOD IndyCar Series.
HPD designs and manufactures Honda HI13RT V6 engine to be used in the car series for competition in the world's fastest closed-course racing championship.
HPD vice president Steve Eriksen said "We believe the combination will quickly provide improvements to our IndyCar Series program, and grow with HPD's other pinnacle racing efforts."
Features of the Honda HI13RT V6 engine include direct fuel injection, a single Borg-Warner turbocharger and drive-by-wire throttle technology.
Japan-based automobile manufacturer Honda's subsidiary, HPD is a racing company with headquarters in North America.
