ToyNews has branched out by launching a toy manufacturing and distribution division.
Retailers will be able to stock dolls, action figures and other accessories based on staff members Samantha Loveday, Dominic Sacco and Robert Hutchins.
Internal discussions are taking place as to whether it's viable to also mass produce toys based on publisher Lisa Carter and designers Rich Orr and Adam Butler, or if these will be available in limited edition form.
ToyNews manufacturing partner J. King will produce at least ten toys this year, with the potential to up manufacturing to a whopping 20 next year, depending on demand from retail buyers.
The one-off dolls will be distributed by the team themselves – by bicycle.
"I'm so excited to be a part of this new addition to ToyNews' magazine publishing business. We write about the toy trade, so why not produce toys ourselves?" said deputy editor Dominic Sacco.
Manufacturer Jo King added: "We're not sure what kind of response we'll get for the dolls, but they have the potential to be a slow burner… a very slow burner."
