Honda’s luxury vehicle division Acura has unveiled its new SUV, the 2017 Acura MDX with sport hybrid powertrain and upgraded features.
The new SUV, unveiled at the 2016 New York International Auto Show is powered by a 3.0 liter Single OverHead Cam (SOHC), six cylinder engine with Variable Cylinder Management.
Acura MDX's engine is connected to a seven speed dual clutch transmission and an integrated electric motor which powers the front wheels and twin motor unit with two electric motors powering the rear wheels.
The engine produces a maximum output of 325hp. This power is more than 35hp than the non-hybrid model.
Hybrid model of Acura MDX is expected to receive fuel economy ratings of EPA of 25/26/26 (city/highway/combined). This is an increase of 7mpg over non-hybrid model.
The SUV will also feature advanced technologies which improve safety and driver assistance as well. These include automatic emergency braking, collision mitigation braking system, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation.
Other features include electric parking brake, auto highbeam headlights, SiriusXM Radio, bi-directional keyless remote engine start, two 20-inch wheel and tire options and surround view camera system with 6 viewing angles.
American Honda Motor executive vice president, John Mendel said: "Upping the performance pedigree of the MDX with bold styling, our exclusive Sport Hybrid powertrain and the standard application of AcuraWatch technologies that many in the industry refer to as semi-autonomous, represents a major injection of Acura's Precision Crafted Performance DNA."

This SUV has been designed at Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California, has been engineered at R&D center in Raymond, Ohio and will be produced atLincoln Ala plant.
