Xenics nv of Leuven,Belgium-a manufacturer of infrared detectors and customized imaging solutions covering the spectrum from long-wavelength infrared(LWIR)to the visible(0.4–14μm)-has appointed Stuart Cohen as new sales manager at subsidiary Xenics USA Inc of Beverly,near Boston,MA,which provides sales and application support to US and Canadian customers.Xenics says that,by attracting someone it describes as a renowned IR expert,it is strengthening its presence in the industrial and governmental security markets throughout North America.

.In his last position as product manager and sales manager of North America for NEC-Avio InfraredTechnologies/NEC Corporation of America,he was mainly responsible for governmental security and surveillance markets,developing a customer base of system integrators,with a special focus on LWIR OEM modules.Previously,Cohen spent a substantial part of his professional career in similar technical sales positions at Ericsson,based in the USA,and at Texas Instruments.
"Foremost on my agenda at Xenics USA Inc is accelerating the expansion of our sales and support organization,"says Cohen."We see a significant potential for growth and additional revenue in the scientific,industrial and security markets in North America.We are investing in these markets by hiring additional employees for technical and sales support,thereby strengthening our regional presence,"he adds."We will also substantially grow our network of sales representatives in dedicated regions."
Xenics says that Cohen's long-term experience and well established connections in the US will help to guide its entry into the OEM core business segment."We have the broadest range of technologies in the industry covering the entire infrared realm,"he claims."We offer the highest-speed InGaAs cameras,and process capabilities that many of our competitors do not have,"he adds."We are very well equipped for complex custom projects."
Xenics USA was founded in 2011 to facilitate sales of the firm's range of IR products and solutions and to provide support to industrial and institutional customers throughout the US and Canada,especially in the rapidly growing segments of security systems and in the institutional and OEM markets for governmental projects.It is headed by Luc DeBrouckere,who has 35 years of experience in infrared imaging.
