Some Taiwan-based IC design houses have said that their sales will remain brisk in the first quarter of 2015 despite seasonal effects, due to replenishment orders from the supply chain and the roll-outs of new end-market devices prior to the Lunar New Year holidays.
Particularly, some IC design service companies and chip vendors for USB 3.1 devices and 4G handsets noted that their first-quarter performance in the coming year will be stronger than that in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Meanwhile, IC vendors also expect Android device suppliers to unveil new products for the upcoming CES and MWC trade fairs and therefore will renew their IC orders.
IC design service companies including Transcend Information, Alchip Technologies and Faraday Technology are all optimistic about business prospects for the first quarter of 2015, buoyed by demand for new chips and the commercial production of new process nodes.
PC peripheral chip and USB chip controller suppliers including Realtek Semiconductor, Genesys Logic and Amazing Microelectronic are set to post double-digit sales growth in the first quarter of 2015, according to industry sources.
