Due to struggling footfall, owners Mark and Sharon Horsman will be closing their Sherborne store and will now concentrate on their second store based in Shaftesbury
Indie toy retailer, The Toy Box, has revealed it will be closing its doors at the end of August, due to struggling footfall on the High Street.
Based in Sherborne, the store’s owners Mark and Sharon Horsman have revealed that the rise in internet shopping has also contributed to the shop’s closure.
The toy retailer revealed the news on its Facebook page, which said: “We are sorry to advise our customers that we will be closing this store on the August 31st 2016, but we will still remain the tenants until the building has been re-let.
“All is not lost though, as we will be transferring our stock and continue to trade and concentrate our efforts on the Shaftesbury store, so if your prepared to travel that little bit further you will still have a wonderful toy and sweet shop to explore.”
Mark and Sharon Horsman have run The Toy Box for the last nine years, alongside a second store that is based in Shaftesbury.
The retailer added: “To our loyal customers we say thank you so very much for using us over the past nine years. Our dream from the outset was to build a toy store that your children would have fun exploring to find the toy they wanted while you, the parents, would be reminiscing about there childhood when you were children – especially the sweets.
“We will continue to trade as normal offering the same experience and customer service you have been used to, so please continue to use us.”
