Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda will recall 143,083 units of its Fit vehicles in the US, over a defective power window switch.
The recall affects Fit vehicles manufactured during 2007 and 2008.
According to the company, the rain water or other spilled liquids would enter the master power window switch on the driver's door under severe conditions through an open driver's window.
The exposure to water and other fluids is expected to cause electrical resistance in the switch leading to the switch overheat and melt as well as damaging the associated wire harness.
Honda will start the recall in mid July 2013, under which it will inspect the master power window switch replaced the affected parts.
The company claims that no crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue.
In January 2010, the automaker had recalled the same Fit vehicles for the same issue and claims that the repair procedure was not to sufficiently robust to ensure that all switches would be completely sealed against all possible moisture intrusion.
