Food distribution giant US Foods will implement a real-time load tracking platform from FourKites for advanced logistics operations.
The refrigerated food supply chain company evaluated various players before opting for Chicago based FourKites.
US Foods will expand the real-time load tracking platform beyond the logistics customer service team in the coming months.
US Foods operations vice president Ray Kredell said: “We are impressed with FourKites' ability to work with carriers of every size and integrate with in-cab ELDs and driver cell phones. It was important for us to partner with a technology provider trusted by our carrier and broker network.”
The load tracking platform from FourKites will enable US Foods to get location information and estimated time of arrivals of all the trucks carrying its products, in real time.
Following the implementation across its carrier fleet, the food distributor’s customer service team is expected to handle any exceptions swiftly and provide answers promptly without the need of making calls to dispatchers or drivers.
FourKites CEO Matt Elenjickal said: “US Foods has a long history of building an innovative supply chain. We are extremely proud to partner with such a dynamic organization and see our cutting-edge connected-devices platform making a huge difference in a short timeframe.”
Using the FourKites platform, US Food is said to have hassle-free deliveries by monitoring active loads on a map with easy-to-access and having hover-over feature to get details.
Through the platform, the company’s sales, warehouse operations along with other internal teams are expected to be on the same page to cut down on redundancies and optimize operations.
Last month, US Foods announced its acquisition of Florida based Save On Seafood.
