Duke Food Productions to Invest $10m in Newly Acquired Plant in Texas

Duke Food Productions has acquired a new 110,000ft2 manufacturing facility in Texas, marking its first expansion outside its home state of South Carolina.

Over the next five years, the food manufacturer expects to invest $10m in the plant located in Bonham while also creating 200 new full-time jobs.

Slated to open in the second quarter of 2017, the Bonham plant stands on an area of 26 acres and is about 60 miles north of Dallas.

Duke Food Productions CEO Andrew Smart said: "Bonham represents the values and standards we as an organization believe in. You can't find a finer community to be a part of. We look forward to working together to create jobs and opportunity for the people of Texas."

Smart also said that growing the company’s business west of South Carolina will increase its strategic capabilities and was also a natural next step.

The Bonham plant will manufacture Duke Food Productions’ line of food products that include ready-to-eat dips, salsas, spreads along with fresh and frozen bakery products.

Texas State announced a grant $970,000 to Duke for establishing the plant in Bonham Texas Economic Development Council.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said: "I am proud Duke Food Productions has chosen Texas for the first expansion outside its home state, bringing millions in capital investment and creating hundreds of jobs for hard-working Texans."

The company will also be moving its corporate headquarters from Easley to Greenville in South Carolina where it was originally founded more than 100 years ago.

The new corporate headquarters will be in the new Falls Park Place building which is scheduled to open in January 2017.
