53,000 Acura Models Are Recalled by Honda in US

Japanese automaker Honda Motors’ luxury vehicle division, Acura, is recalling about 53,000 TL sedans in US, over power steering issue.

The company said that the sedans manufactured between 2007 and 2008 will be affected by the recall, which will experience potential fluid leak caused by expended power steering hoses.

Further, the leaking power steering fluid could reduce power steering assistance and if it leaks onto a catalytic converter or other parts of the exhaust system, it may further give rise to smoke or, in the worst case, fire.

Honda said that the same power steering problem is being observed in China where about 537 Honda vehicles produced between May 2006 and January 2007 are being recalled and will be offered free repairs from starting from 31 May 2012.
