Japanese automaker Honda Motor has developed new traffic congestion minimization app for the smartphones.
The company had conducted the public-road testing of the technology at toll road between Ulujami and Pondok Ranji in Jakarta, Indonesia from September 2012 to February 2013.
According to the company, the technology has been proven to delay the development of congestion and improving the vehicle's fuel efficiency by over 20%.
The smartphone app checks the pattern of acceleration and deceleration of a vehicle to evaluate if it would create traffic congestion and offers support to align the driving depending on the surroundings of the vehicle.
The app changes the colors of the smartphone display to assist the user to keep check of the driving to be aligned with surrounding vehicles.
Additionally, the app is expected to improve the safety and fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
Honda is planning to develop a technology that would support aligned riding/driving by the use of audio and vibration alerts.
