New York City-based bridalwear queen Vera Wang has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards 2013 ceremony.
The 63-year-old haute couturier’s former mentor Ralph Lauren presented her with the coveted trophy at the glitzy New York event, which was attended by the who’s who of the fashion industry.
Other than Wang, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the talented designer duo behind the women’s brand Proenza Schouler, won the Womenswear Designer of the Year title at the soiree. The designers had earlier won the same award twice in 2007 and 2011.
In addition to the prolific design duo, the Pennsylvania-born fashion designer Thom Browne took away the Menswear Designer of the Year title at the fashionable evening which is considered as America’s fashion Oscars.
The veteran design talent Oscar de la Renta was honoured with a special tribute in the form of Founder’s Award given away by the former US First Lady Hillary Clinton at the glamorous event.
