Taiwan-based solar cell maker Tainergy became the first solar firm in Taiwan to return to profitability in May since the market downturn in second-quarter 2011.
According to industry sources,Tainergy was able to generate profits in May due to increasing OEM orders from Europe-and US-based customers.Capacity utilization rates increased to 70%in May from 50%in April.The current capacity utilization rate is around 85%,said industry sources.
Tainergy has been focusing marketing efforts on potential induced degradation(PID)free solar cells which have been well received by the solar market in Europe.Tainergy anticipates June revenues to show on-month increases as orders from Europe continue to rise.
