FCA Offers $100 Debit Cards for Recalled Vehicles

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is providing $100 prepaid debit cards to recalled vehicle owners in the US to help them get their cars and trucks with potential safety issues repaired.

The incentives have been said to raise the completion rates for ongoing recalls of vehicles that cover older SUVs and model-year 2009-2012 trucks, for which remedies were not stated to be immediately available.

FCA vehicle safety and regulatory compliance senior vice-president Scott Kunselman said: "Remedies are available, we are servicing vehicles and we encourage affected customers to contact their dealers... It is imperative that all vehicles implicated by recalls are inspected and serviced, as required."

"We are committed to further improving our recall completion rates... The added benefit of our efforts, we hope, will be to elevate public awareness of the need to respond to recall notices, and a greater understanding of the recall process, in general."

The company said information about whether a vehicle is eligible could be obtained by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at the sites - MyJeepAuto.com, Recalls.mopar.com and Safercar.gov.

The company offers two options for the owners of affected Grand Cherokee vehicles.

Firstly, they could receive a $100 Visa Prepaid Card for unrestricted use upon completion of recall-related service. It was also mentioned that consumers who had their recalls completed on or after July 24, 2015, are also entitled for the prepaid card.

Secondly, if they trade in the vehicle, they could obtain $1,000 incentive in the purchase of a new vehicle, or a $1,000 Visa Prepaid Card usable for parts or service at the FCA US dealership.
