South Korea-based Hyundai Motor and its subsidiary Kia Motors America (KMA) have added the Google Maps application programming interfaces (API) to the Hyundai Blue Link telematics platform to improve car connectivity.
Features of the API include send to car, point of interest search, local search, in addition to applications that provide connectivity, convenience and safety solutions.
Hyundai Motor Customer Connect for America director Barry Ratzlaff said: "The integration of Google Maps APIs makes Blue Link even more effective."
KMA has also added the Google map APIs that will be installed for the UVO eServices telematics system.
KMA connected car program head, chief technology strategist Henry Bzeih said: "The newest iteration of the UVO platform is a breakthrough as one of the industry's first mobile pure app-based telematics systems, and now with the Google solutions and APIs, we take the platform to yet another level of enhancement for the Kia customer."
Kia's 2014 Sorento crossover utility vehicle (CUV) will be installed with the UVO eService that will use Google Maps and Google Places to capture driving directions and locate Points of Interest.
