Amcor Acquires Deluxe Packages for $45m

Australian packaging company Amcor has acquired flexible packaging firm Deluxe Packages in a deal that is valued at around $45m.

Deluxe Packages will be operated as part of Amcor's newly-formed Flexibles Americas business group.

Based in the US, Deluxe Packages operates one manufacturing plant in Yuba City, in Northern California where it produces high-performance flexible packaging products for customers in the fresh food and snack segments.

The Yuba City plant is claimed to have attractive technologies, capabilities and highly skilled co-workers.

Deluxe Packages' products include fresh cut produce packaging with breathable laminations and micro perforations; dual-oven packaging and tray over wraps for frozen food packaging; besides many others.

Amcor CEO and Managing Director, Ron Delia said: "North America is an attractive region for flexible packaging and this acquisition represents an excellent opportunity to accelerate profitable growth.

"With the addition of Deluxe Packages, Amcor's customer value proposition in the specialty food packaging segment is strengthened with a combined east and west coast footprint. This acquisition will enhance growth in priority segments and generate strong returns."

Last year, Amcor bought preform maker Encon for $55m to expand its rigid plastics business.

With more than 180 sites, Amcor currently generates close to $10bn in annual sales. It employs more than 29,000 employees across its operations in 40 countries.

The company operates in five business segments, including Amcor PET Packaging; Amcor Australasia; Amcor Flexibles; Amcor Sunclipse; and Amcor Asia.
