LIA Encourages Small- to Medium-Sized Retailers to Switch to LED Lighting Installations

The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) has been working closely with the Green Construction Board and British Retail Consortium (BRC) to develop a campaign aimed at encouraging independent and small- to medium-sized retailers to switch to LED lighting installations.

According to the campaign's developers, the independent sector has been slower than the nationals to adopt this technology, and the BRC is concerned that its members are missing out on significant energy savings.

The Switch the Lights Campaign will be launched in a series of workshops around the country over the next three months, and will see retailers hear from industry experts, explore best-practice case studies, tour shopping centre venues and learn energy-saving tips.

"There are specific issues for smaller independent retailers in refurbishing their lighting systems, and the campaign aims to inform this large sector to enable them to benefit from the enormous energy-saving opportunity," says Peter Hunt, LIA COO.
