Cambodia's Export of Apparel Increased by 17.5% (2013.1-3.)

According to data from Cambodia Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia's export of apparel and cotton increased by 17.5% Y-O-Y, reaching the amount of $1.34 billion in the first three month.

During the first three month in 2013,  Cambodia's import of  apparel and cotton increased by 18.3% Y-O-Y, because its garment production relied on imported textile raw materials. The increase in Q1 showed the boom in apparel industry.

Cambodia lies in the eastsouth of Asia and their labor force cost is low. As China's minimum-wage level increases, more and more global buyers place orders in Cambodia. It contributes to the country's apparel industry.

Cambodia's foreign exchange earnings comes mainly from export of apperal. Last year, the apperal exported totoaled $4.61 billion, 9% high than $4.24 billion of 2011. Cambodia exported apperal to America and EU. On the other side, Cambodia import textile raw materials mainly from China, Korea, Japan and other Asian countries.
