In the January-April period this year, the volume of metallurgical coke exports from China's Shanxi Province indicated a 5.1-fold year-on-year increase to 329,000 mt, according to the customs authorities in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi, with the total export value amounting to RMB 500 million ($81.6 million), seeing a 3.4-fold year-on-year rise. The average export price in the given period was RMB 1,515/mt ($247/mt), down 27.6 percent year on year.
In the January-April period, metallurgical coke exports from Shanxi Province accounted for 13.7 percent of China's overall coke exports, with Shanxi ranking third among Chinese provinces in terms of coke export volume. In the given period, coke exports to India, Japan and Mexico accounted for 82.3 percent of Shanxi's total coke exports.
In April alone, Shanxi exported 26,000 mt of coke, up 96.3 percent year on year and down 34.4 percent month on month, with an average export price of RMB 1,532/mt ($250/mt), down 31.2 percent year on year.
