Brazil's Iron Ore Export Volume Amounted to 24.70 Million mt in April This Year

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 24.70 million mt in April this year, increasing by 0.49 percent compared to March and up 5.81 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in April totaled $2.06 billion, decreasing by 13.73 percent compared to the previous month and down 18.63 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, Brazil's iron ore export volume increased by 5.76 percent year on year to 96.50 million mt.

In April, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 424,283 mt, increasing by 11.26 percent compared to the previous month and down 19.13 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $222.28 million, increasing by 12.61 percent compared to March and down 17.28 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first four months of the current year, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 1.69 million mt, down 20.89 percent year on year.

On the other hand, in April Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 110,382 metric tons, increasing 40.31 percent from March and down 38.90 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $83.11 million, increasing by 16.01 percent month on month and down 41.64 percent from the April 2013 level. In the first four months of this year, Brazil's flat steel exports decreased by 30.81 percent year on year to 494.783 million mt.
