ACSP Designs Lighting and Acoustic Dampening Solution for The New Cutting-Edge 4,000sq

A.C. Special Projects (ACSP) Ltd. have designed, supplied and installed a custom trussing, lighting and acoustic dampening solution for the new cutting-edge 4,000sq.ft demonstration facility of leading UK pro audio and MI distributor, Sound Technology - located at their premises in Hertfordshire.

Sound Technology is the UK and Eire master distributor for high profile Harman Professional pro audio brands including JBL Professional, Soundcraft, Crown, AKG, BSS Audio, Lexicon and dbx Professional. It operates in multiple market sectors including studio & broadcast, pro live sound, commercial audio, cinema sound and music retail.

When it came to providing the demo facility solution, ACSP were an obvious choice due to their extensive experience working with leading venues and clients in the performance and leisure industry sectors. In addition, sister sales company, A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd., is a sub-distributor for the Sound Technology pro audio brand portfolio, so the two companies had first hand experience of the clients' products and markets.

The purpose built demonstration space needed to accommodate several large audio speaker systems in the central listening area, so ACSP designed and installed a substantial ground supported goal-post structure made from Litec QD40 heavy duty trussing. Three left and right stacks of different interchangeable JBL Professional line array loudspeaker systems are hung on this.

To acoustically treat the complete room, a 20 x 10m trussing grid was flown overhead, rigged from the roof on ten manual chain blocks, made up from Litec QD30 heavy duty truss. This provides hanging points for a complete wrap of Kilo black wool serge curtains used for perimeter acoustic treatment, which is well known for providing excellent sound absorption.

ACSP also installed a series of one metre long RGB LED battens on the bottom rail of the box truss grid, which add mood and atmosphere to the room when used for product training events.

ACSP's Dave Cowan, who co-ordinated the project, comments, "It was a pleasure to work with our suppliers and colleagues, providing them with a first class demo facility. It will also be very beneficial for the "A.C. Group" companies to utilise the facility for demos of the Harman Professional brand portfolio to our own client base."
