Wilkins Group has increased the turnaround speed of its new foil blocking machine with an investment of £300,000.
Developed for fast throughput and, depending upon the amount of foil, the MK 1060 ST has a capacity to run at more than 7,000 sph.
Wilkins Group sales and marketing director Justin Wilkins said: "There has been a shift in the market, where once high quality attractive packaging was reserved for the cosmetics and garment industries, now all sectors want unique, innovative packaging and we need to be able to offer that service.
Wilkins Group said that the investment is intended to offer a high quality product with increased efficiency and lower our carbon footprint.
Wilkins added: The new investment will make us more reactive to any sudden demand from our clients, and puts us in a unique and advantageous position over other packaging firms."
Earlier, the firm has invested over £2m in Komori Lithrone GX Range printing press in an effort to increase capacity.
Wilkins Group said that the investment in the printing press technology would enhance the value of products by using the machine's unique coating units to create printing effects through special varnishing techniques.
Capable of printing up to 18,000 sheets an hour, the Komori Lithrone GX machine has capability of bolting on seven different colors and features fast drying capability.
