The former UK managing director of sports brand Umbro is launching a new football toy: Football Flick Urban.
Sports industry stalwart Phil Fellone comes on board as non-executive director, to help market the product, which arrives in the UK in March.
Football Flick Urban is a "three-dimensional portable training aid that enables players to work on their game anywhere, any time".
You can check out a video of the product in action here.
“I’m taking a hands-on role,” said Fellone. "I'm helping with anything and everything in the process of taking the product to market, from sales and marketing strategy, to promotions, sponsorship; whatever it takes.
"Football Flick Urban takes two minutes to set up and ten seconds to fold down. It’s simple, looks good and above all it’s really fun to use. It’s ideal for any age from six or seven upwards. I’ve seen guys of 25 or 30 spending 45 minutes belting the ball at it, and it’s great family fun.”
Fellone added: “Some of the biggest retailers in the business are showing a keen interest in Football Flick Urban. One of the challenges could be having enough product to supply the initial demand. There is nothing like the Football Flick Urban skillster on the market so the potential could be huge.”
Gareth Hodskinson, Chief Executive Officer of iControl Distribution, manufacturers of Football Flick Urban, commented: “Phil brings a level of experience and gravitas in the sports industry that is hard to match, and we are delighted he is joining us."
