Twin textile trade shows Yarnex- India International Yarn Exhibition and TexIndia- Textile Sourcing Fair which was held in Tirupur earlier this month witnessed a 25 percent increase in visitor numbers, who came from India as well as foreign countries.
According to the organisers, the twin shows saw a record 3,424 visitors not only from India, but also from Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UK and USA amongst others.
“This marks a 25 percent increase compared to the previous edition and on the exhibitors’ side, nearly 115 suppliers from all over the country took part, besides a special overseas contingent from Italy, UK, Hong Kong and China displaying their latest and innovative products”, they said.
“The increase in both exhibitor and visitor figures confirms that Yarnex and TexIndia have grown out of the regional context and these shows are the best platform to take advantage of the growing potential in this region,” said Mr Krishnamurthy, CEO of SS Textile Media, organizer of the event.
The ambience, the professionalism and the wide range of new developments like the new varieties of mélange yarn, fancy yarn, metal yarn, eco-friendly yarn, fibers from Lycra and Reliance Industries, fleece fabrics, netted fabrics, etc. at the twin shows were well appreciated.
Yarnex and TexIndia were inaugurated by Dr Sakthivel, President - Tirupur Exporters’ Association. He said, “I am quite impressed with the kind of new developments Tirupur is being exposed to with shows like Yarnex and TexIndia. It is the need of the hour for Tirupur to upgrade.”
He spoke about a new stainless steel yarn and its functions, which was manufactured in China and was on display at the show, as also about the new varieties of fancy, metallic and linen yarn.
“We participated at Yarnex five years ago; our customer base then was just two or three. Now it has grown to 120. Our sales have gone up from 10–15 tons a year to 50 tons now.” said Vipul Rastogi, Technical Director, Flora Dyeing House (P) Ltd, New Delhi.
“We could meet around 300 buyers at this show, and even if we are able to do business with just 10 percent of them, it would be great. We hope to be here at Yarnex in a bigger way next year”, said Hardik Semlani, Regional Sales Manager, Trident Group, Ludhiana.
Besides the exhibitors, buyers too were satisfied, especially with the quality of vendors and the product range on offer.
“The show is keeping in with the latest trends,” said Mr Vijay Joshi, Manager, Karthik Textiles, Ichalkaranji. “The trend is towards value addition and this will stay on at least for the next five years. I met a couple of new exhibitors especially for the fancy yarn range we were looking for.”
G. Kishore, Manager, Sky Trading Corporation, Chennai was of the opinion that information to which he did not have access earlier, was available at the fair. “I even found a particular machinery I was looking for at Yarnex, something which I could not find elsewhere”, he informed.
