Greenville-based Measured Solutions Inc. — a sales and service provider for textile laboratory testing equipment, spinnerets and related inspection systems, cleaning equipment, and viscosity measurement systems — now offers Switzerland-based Rothschild-Instruments' latest-generation electronic Tensiometer for continuous measurement of tension on yarns of all types and on any machines that produce or run yarns.
The Tensiometer R-3000 model — an upgraded version of the R-2000 model — features touch screen control for all functions as well as the previous version's digital and analogue reading, two tension channels and simultaneous dual tension measurements. The instrument's graphic display offers time base options ranging from 10 to 1,200 seconds, and data may be recorded for up to three weeks on a personal computer. The R-3000 can be operated using main or battery power, and it provides high-precision measuring in a range between 0.01 and 200,000 centinewtons, with accuracy within a range of plus or minus 2 percent. The measuring head measures 30 millimeters in diameter, allowing it to be positioned at any point along the yarn, and the instrument's 300-Hertz response time enables recording of all short time peak tensions, according to Rothschild.
A wireless version of the Tensiometer is under development and is expected to be available in early 2014.
