LED driver IC vendors including Silergy, Macroblock and On-Bright Electronics are expected to see their sales stay flat in the third quarter of 2014 before riding higher in the fourth quarter, according to industry sources.
Order visibility for the third quarter is not much higher than that in the previous quarter as downstream clients already pulled in a significant volume of orders on concerns of tight chip supply, explained the sources.
Since the LED lighting market in China is still set for strong growth in 2015, most LED driver IC vendors expect their sales to make a strong rebound in the fourth quarter.
Silergy has been benefiting from the booming LED application market in China, seeing its revenues soar over 70% on year to NT$1.69 billion (US$56.54 million) in the first seven months of 2014.
However, Silergy expects its growth momentum to slow down a bit in the third quarter as clients have reduced orders.
On-Bright saw its revenues slip 14% on month and 18% on year to NT$220 million in July, affected by inventory adjustments at clients as well as product adjustments at the company, the sources pointed out.
